It is one of the thirteen districts of Muğla Province. As a tourism center, it attracts a significant number of tourists every year. Some features of the district have contributed to its development in terms of tourism. It is a district that has gained worldwide fame. That feature unknown in terms of tourism is not unique to Turkey. Bodrum ship harbors are among the structures considered important for the district. The population of the district is crowded. It left Fethiye and Menteşe behind in terms of population density. Bodrum's history is important. The ancient name of the district is in the records as Halikarnassos. This name was used in Turkish as Halikarnas. In ancient times, the city was named Petrium when this region was dedicated to Saint Peter along with a fortress called St. Peter's Castle.

Bodrum name emerged as a result of using the name as Pectrum and then as a potrum in time. Bodrum is located in the western part of Muğla Province. Other aspects of the district are surrounded by the Aegean Sea. There is no administrative limit to the east except Milas. The climate of the district has a synthesis structure. The district of Bodrum has occurred due to the synthesis of Aegean and Mediterranean climates. The district peninsula has the feature of micro air conditioning. There is no moisture in the district in the summer months. The humidity in the winter months is also low. In summer, the temperature in the district is high. Winter months are warm and rainy. Since 2003, a ballet festival is held in the district. This festival is the first and only ballet festival in the country.

Bodrum Ship Ports 

The port operated by the municipality is important for the district. A significant income is obtained from the port. The port serves 300 boats with its capacity. Of these, 200 boats are divided into internal harbors, 60 boats, Kumbahçe Pier and other areas. The history of the port is as rooted as the history of the district. In addition to commercial fleets, war fleets were found in the port in ancient times. The port is still hosting Bodrum's commercial yacht fleet. The port is surrounded by restaurants. Bodrum is a favorite with tourists due to the social facilities around the seaports. The port, which is frequently visited by modern yachts, offers important economic contributions to the district. Small fishing boats also actively operate in the port.
