Search and Rescue Notes

Search and Rescue Notes

Search and rescue notes at sea and how they are applied are of great importance. If we talk about what these search and rescue notes are. Namely;

  • If the weather is sunny while searching for an object in the sea, the person acting as a seeker should take the sun behind him. If the object is searched in moonlight or at night, this time it is necessary to seek help from a light source when finding the object. In this case, the object should remain between the vehicle and the light source.
  • When someone falls into the sea, people on the boat should be warned immediately and extremely loudly. In the meantime, the place where the person fell into the sea should also be reported.
  • A glass wheel, a man dropped buoy and floating objects that the man can hold should be thrown into the area where the person falls into the sea quickly and agitated.
  • The boats in the vicinity should also be warned about this issue and the region should be indicated with the smoky sign aids during the day and the night.
  • At the same time, a person whose eyes are extremely sharp must constantly observe the person falling into the sea.
  • While the boat is making a return, it should be done by the board and technically prefer the Williamson and Elliptical methods.
  • Wind and current direction, intensity and time should be carefully determined.

When a person falls into the sea, the people in the watercraft must be extremely careful, but also fast. It has an important place in saving a person's life. The most important point to be considered while doing this is the subject of wind deviation and direction deviation. There are three important points to be considered in such cases.

These;

  • First, the minimum deviation should be calculated according to the location of the target person.
  • Then, the maximum deviation must be calculated with the position of the person in the same way. Then the following important values are added to the above two values.
  • Initial position error
  • Drift with these values, a very sensitive measurement is carried out and as a result, the location of the person who fell into the sea is tried to be determined.

As a result of all these calculations, an attempt is made to intervene in a manner appropriate for the person falling overboard. If everything is carried out regularly like search and rescue notes, the person who fell into the sea without any problems can be rescued.
